  1. 30 years? WOW! Can’t believe it has been that long. I hope things are growing back.

Kilauea has been very active again here with lava destroying more forest area. I really should get back to the Big Island to see some of the changes.

  2. Lovely photo, Marta!

We rode our motorcycles through the park sometime in the mid 80s and were just astonished by the miles of trees laid flat like toothpicks. We’ve talked about going back too, to see how it’s changed.

I’ll look forward to seeing your photos.

  3. Hi Marta, wow, has it been that long. I was in Eastern Washington when Mt. St. Helen’s erupted. I remember that it was the tail end of Mothers Day weekend and the sky suddenly turned black and then there were about 3 inches of volcanic ash. It was so eerie.

That’s a great photo of the area. It’s so amazing to think about the power and destruction of that kind of eruption. It’s nice to see that some plant life is coming back.

  4. Hi Marta,
Like everyone else I can’t believe it’s been 30 years. It will be interesting to see how much it has changed. I am always amazed at how here in Australia some habitats are able to recover so quickly after a bushfire.
