Leap Day
Well it is finally here – leap day. Not only is this an extra day but it is the end of the Slow Travel Blog for a Month. This has been a lot of fun. I’ve enjoyed reading posts by my fellow bloggers. I am going to continue updating my blog but just not daily.
Leap Day has always been fun. I remember Sadie Hawkins Day when I was growing up. In high school, girls could ask the boys out to the Sadie Hawkins Dance. I wonder if there are any Sadie Hawkins Dances tonight?
Goodness, how things have changed…imagine sitting around baiting traps as if one couldn’t lead a fulfilling life on one’s own. I say in righteous indignation…and hypocrisy? (I’ve been married for twenty years so perhaps ought not cast aspersions!)
Cool cartoon!! I think high schoolers would laugh at the thought of a Sadie Hawkins day today. How times have changed.
As a teenager in the 60’s I remember the tail end of the Sadie Hawkins tradition.
My high school had a prohibition against bringing dates from other schools to our functions. My boyfriend at the time went to a different HS, so I didn’t go to the dance.
